The March Leadership Development Piqua and PACC Teen Leaders Walking Tour
On March 14th Leadership Development Piqua and PACC Teen Leaders spent the day with Jim Oda, Piqua Library Director & Historian, for a walking tour of downtown Piqua. Jim shared the history of past businesses & the different modes of travel that were once available to Piqua residents. The tour began @ Lock 9 Park and the group made a stop @ Winan’s for a factory tour that included samples of Winan’s delicious chocolates & coffees.
After the Winan’s Tour, Jim Oda lead the group up Canal Street to share information on how supplies would be delivered via the canal to Downtown merchants.
From Canal Street, LDP & PACC Teen Leaders toured Downtown Piqua where Jim Oda shared the history of past merchants. The group stopped in the Apple Tree Gallery, which was once home to JC Penny’s, and then headed to The Schmidlapp Free School Library after Jim Oda shared the history of Piqua’s libraries.
After having lunch, provided by Heritage Catering at the Schmidlapp Free School Library, Steve Schmidlapp & Jim Oda shared the history of the Schmidlapp Free School Library with the Leadership Development Piqua & PACC Teen Leaders. The Walking Tour concluded @ the Piqua Library, where Jim Oda spoke about the renovations of the Fort Piqua Plaza.
The PACC Leadership Development Piqua & PACC Teen Leaders will hold their graduation luncheon at the Johnston Farm & Indian Agency on April 11th, following a morning sessions which will include a tour given by Director, Andy Hite.
