Changes have been made to the PACC Piqua Teen Leaders program offered through the Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce. The Piqua Area Chamber has changed the name of its Piqua Teen Leaders to “Empower Teen Leaders”. The program will now be offered to not only Piqua City Schools, but Upper Valley Career Center & Lehman High School juniors and seniors. More
The Piqua Area Chamber concluded the 2016 – 2017 PACC Teen Leaders and PACC Leadership Development programs at the Johnston Farm & Indian Agency historical site, yesterday. Andy Hite, Director of Johnston Farm & Indian Agency graciously hosted the April session with a history tour and graduation ceremony for both Chamber groups. More
The Veterans Committee is continuing its mission of constant improvement at the Piqua Veteran’s Memorial.
Three trees have been removed and new quadrants for memorial bricks have been added to the Memorial grounds. The PACC invites everyone to stop by and view this beautiful memorial to our Veterans.
On March 14th Leadership Development Piqua and PACC Teen Leaders spent the day with Jim Oda, Piqua Library Director & Historian, for a walking tour of downtown Piqua. Jim shared the history of past businesses & the different modes of travel that were once available to Piqua residents. The tour began @ Lock 9 Park and the group made a stop @ Winan’s for a factory tour that included samples of Winan’s delicious chocolates & coffees. More
Matt Meyer, Director of Student Services hosted a tour of the Upper Valley CC facilities, shared the many opportunities available to the Piqua & surrounding communities made available through the Career Center such as cosmetology, & engineering to name a few. LDP had lunch, prepared by the Culinary students at the Cornerstone Restaurant, located at the Upper Valley CC. The Miami County and Shelby County Chambers will be hosting a Joint Business After Hours for the Upper Valley CC, March 16, 5-7PM and is open to the public. The LDP February session had participants visiting “Hidden Gems” within the Piqua community. Piqua has many historic locations that The first stop was Forest Hill Cemetery & Arboretum. Jim Roth, Superintendent shared the history of Forest Hill Cemetery, the Mausoleum, Labyrinth & Christmas Box Angel. Upcoming events at the cemetery include an old fashion family picnic on June 10th between 4-7PM. More
The PACC Teen Leaders worked with Sean Ford, Director of the United Way and United Way volunteers, Leesa Baker, Bill Stump & Lisa McGraw today for the Teens Taking Charge program. More
